The Florida Women's Arts Association and Ormond Mainstreet are currently looking for artists to participate in their first ever Ocean Air Art Prize. Designed to exhibit local arts and boost the retail economy in Ormond Beach, the show is open to Ormond Beach residents and FLWAA members.

From Jan. 14 to 22, works from local artists will hang in various business venues along Granada Blvd. between U.S. 1 and A1A. Each business will show one or more pieces of art to draw people into their shop. There will be both a printed and an online map showing the venues and the public will have access to an online app to vote for their favorite pieces.

At the end of the show, there will be a gala to award monetary prizes to first, second and third place winners. There will also be a “Best in Show” prize chosen by a jury of recognized artists.

The winners receive not only a monetary prize but their art will stay on display for a month in a sponsored venue.

This opportunity is open only to two dimensional pieces and sculpture. At this time we are not accepting jewelry, pottery or crafts.

Applications, submission requirements and instructions can be found online at ormondbeachmainstreet.com/ocean_air. All applications must be submitted by Nov. 1.

For additional information please contact Marianne Verna, president of Florida Women’s Arts Association, at [email protected] or Julia Truilo, executive director of Ormond Beach MainStreet, at [email protected].
