The Seabreeze Lady Sandcrabs (1-4) took down crosstown rival Mainland Bucs (2-4) 25-16, 25-19, 25-19 for its first win of the season on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Seabreeze.
“We got some new faces on the team, so we’re still trying to work on our cohesiveness,” said head coach Tarisa Craig-Craggy. “But, we’re doing well. Now, I’m hoping we can put the first four games behind us. And it’s always big when we beat Mainland.”
Team leaders Vail Linn and Isabel Harris had 12 and 10 assists, respectively, and Shannon Stack assisted on 12 points. Kate Roth added 20 assists along with seven aces.
For Mainland, Abby Rich led the team with 25 assists. Morgan Mundell led with nine kills, and Kamari Potter followed with five kills and a block.
In JV action, the Sandcrabs, coached by Erika Binford, also swept Mainland 25-15, 25-8. Leigha Daniels recorded four aces and five digs. Malinda Messner had three kills and seven service points, and Daria Babazaden had nine service points.
Up next: The Sandcrabs’ will next play Father Lopez at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at Seabreeze, and Mainland will play Deltona at the same time, same day, in Deltona.
