A 19-year-old woman awoke from a nap Sept. 14 and noticed that her car — a Kia, which she’d parked in her driveway on Red Clover Lane — had been stolen, along with her keys and cash from her wallet.

She called the Sheriff’s Office at about 8:48 p.m. to report the theft, according to a Sheriff's Office case report. She’d taken her nap at about 6:30 p.m., she told deputies.

But as a deputy was driving out to her home to talk to her, the deputy got a call from dispatch: The missing car had been found empty and crashed into a light pole at Central Avenue and Town Center Boulevard, and was towed to Rogers Towing.

The woman told the deputy that no one else had access to the car, and there wasn’t a second set of keys, according to the case report.
