Matanzas girls take second
Running on one of Florida’s most difficult tracks, the Matanzas Pirates cross country team placed second in the Embry-Riddle Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 17.
Kylie Dahlberg (10th), Bella Rodriguez (12th) and Rain Marti (15th) all placed in the Top 15.
The boys placed 10th. Dougie Gray and Jared Gasper were the only two to place in the Top 35.
Karate kids movin’ on up
Pak’s Karate held its third quarter belt testing last month, and the following students earned new belts for testing completion:

Basketball registration is underway
Flagler County Hurricanes basketball has begun registration for its upcoming ninth season. Run by Fitzgerald Belgrave, the program features a second grade clinic, a third-fifth grade division, a sixth-eighth grade division and a high school division.
There will be a registration day Saturday, Oct. 8, at Carver Gym. All interested parties can call email [email protected] or call 627-0262.
PDA 19U wins its season opener
After two games, PDA girls 19U soccer team now stands at 1-1. The girls opened the season last weekend with a 5-1 over FC Florida. Claire Slamka scored four goals, and Allie McManus added the other. Maddie Pellicer had two assists.
The girls tied Weston 1-1 this past season. Leanna Ballschmeider scored the goal that was assisted by Slamka.
