Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies are seeking the public’s help to find a robber who snatched a woman’s purse in the Walmart parking lot in the middle of the afternoon.
The robbery happened at about 2:42 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Walmart Supercenter at 174 Cypress Point Parkway in Palm Coast, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.
The victim had left the store and was loading her groceries from a shopping cart into her trunk when the robbery occurred.
She’d left her purse in the top of the cart, and as she was loading the groceries, a silver, newer-model Hyundai Sonata pulled up and a woman stepped out of the passenger seat, grabbed the purse and then jumped back into the car, which sped off toward Palm Coast Parkway.
Deputies did not know which direction the car went. The victim reported the robbery at 2:42 p.m. and told deputies that the purse held her cash, credit cards, driver’s license and prescription medicine. Deputies are processing the scene of the robbery and expect to release surveillance video.
The Sheriff’s Office in the news release reminded residents to be aware of surroundings when shopping and when in a parking lot, and to be a good witness by being able to provide a description of suspects and/or vehicles.
The Sheriff’s Office has urged anyone with information about the purse snatching or any other crimes in Flagler County to call the Sheriff’s Office at 386-313-4911. Or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-8477. Crime Stoppers tipsters may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
