THURSDAY, SEPT. 29

Newborn Care Class

7 p.m. at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center Medical Office Building, 305 Memorial Medical Parkway, Daytona Beach. Taught by a certified happiest baby instructor, this class teaches tools to calm a crying, fussy baby and gives tips for practicing safe sleep and reducing the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. FRIDAY, SEPT. 30

Open Gym

6 to 8 p.m. at the Ormond Beach Gymnastics Center, 432 N. Nova Road. Ages 8-21. Coaches on the floor. Light spotting. Cost is $5 per participant. Call 676-3250.

Tales from Pilgrims’ Rest Cemetery Tour

7 p.m. at the Pilgrims' Rest Cemetery. Also held at the same time Oct. 1. Confederate soldiers buried there will "tell their tales" beside their respective tombstones. See antique muzzle loading muskets and a live firing of a cannon. Free parking is available. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the Ormond Beach Historical Society office, 38 E. Granada Blvd. Limited to 50 people each night. Hosted by the Ormond Beach Historical Society and the Pilgrims' Rest Cemetery Trust. Call 677-7005.

American Legion Post #267 Auxiliary Yard Sale

8 a.m. to noon, 156 New Britain Ave. Tables are available for a $10 donation. Proceeds from the sale will benefit veteran, community and children causes. Call 672- 7678.

SUNDAY, OCT. 2

Knights of Columbus Pancake Breakfast

8 a.m. to noon at St. Brendan Catholic Church, 1000 Ocean Shore Blvd. Hosted by Father Eamonn Gill Council 13018 Knights of Columbus. Served in the Social Hall. The meal includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, a sausage link, orange juice and endless coffee. Cost for adults is $5, children under 12 eat free.

Beth Moore Women’s Video Conference: "A Royal Gathering With the King of Kings" 

1:30 p.m. at Tomoka Christian Church, 1450 Hand Ave. The daylong event will feature brand new teachings of Moore, a popular, national Christian speaker. Christian performing artist Travis Cottrell will lead worship. Tickets cost $15 per person. They may be purchased online at BethMoore.tomoka.cc or at The Nations Market inside the church during weekend services.

Power Parenting: One Day Quick Course

1 p.m. at the Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center Medical Office Building Classroom B, 305 Memorial Medical Parkway, Daytona Beach. Focuses on breastfeeding, newborn care and infant CPR. TUESDAY, OCT. 4

Calligraphy Workshop: Free Versals

10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Ormond Memorial Art Museum. Students will start with a basic capital letter, add freeform lines to create unique individual letters that can be filled in with colored pencils, markers, watercolor, etc. Students are responsible for bringing Black Micron Pens, sizes 01, 02, 03 & (08 optional), that can be purchased at any art store and a ruler. Locally roasted coffee, generously provided by Steel Oak Coffee, will be served. Level is beginner to intermediate. Cost is $60 for members and $66 for nonmembers.

Yoga in the Library 

10 a.m. at the Ormond Beach Regional Library, 30 S. Beach St. Learn how breath control, simple meditation and specific body postures can promote health and relaxation. Bring a mat or towel.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 5

Ormond Beach Garden Club

9:30 a.m. at The Casements. The first meeting for the 2016—17 season. Guests welcome. Meeting followed by the program, “Art of Potpourri” by Dodie Ulery, photographer and multi-media artist. Lunch will be at LuLu’s. Call 673-2940.

Ava Happy Wanderers 5K Fun Walk

Candidate Forum

6 p.m. at the Ormond Beach Commission Chambers. Meet and greet in the Atrium until the forum starts at 7 p.m. Jim Rose will be the moderator.
