One of Florida’s top plein air artists will welcome guests to his “A Landscape Perspective” art show from 6 to 8 p.m Oct. 1. A longtime exhibitor at Ocean Art Gallery, Scott Hiestand will present his detailed acrylic landscape and wildlife paintings created expressly for this show.
During the opening reception, Hiestand will meet with guests and share his artistic technique, which has won him multiple awards throughout Florida.
Upon obtaining his art degree, Hiestand was recruited by Hallmark Cards. He later worked for some 35 years as a graphic artist for various newspapers, including 15 years at the St. Petersburg Times, where he illustrated the outdoors pages.
He is a State of Indiana upland game bird stamp contest winner; was selected for the Paint America National Gallery Tour; and designed the Florida Bass Fish automobile license plate. Scott was recently an over-all winner for the Plein Air Magazine Salon Contest. Highly regarded by collectors, Hiestand's works are in many private and corporate collections nationwide.
As always, the art opening at Ocean Art Gallery, held on the first Saturday of every month, is a free event to which everyone is invited. Light refreshments and live music will be available.
