After being diagnosed in 2010 with a cancerous brain tumor, 9-year-old Cameron Fulling fought long and hard for almost seven years to deal with the challenges of his condition.

On April 6, his parents, Melisa and Dan, reported on the "Team Cameron" Facebook page they'd set up in their son's honor that Cameron had passed away. Even while seeking treatment -- including several surgeries and the recurrence of tumors -- Cameron maintained an optimistic spirit and the awe of a little boy who looked up to firefighters and cops. Cameron was, in fact, made an honorary deputy by the Flagler County Sheriff's Department and the Flagler County Fire Department.

Memorial services for Cameron Fulling were still being finalized as this issue went to press but the family was hoping to hold services sometime Saturday, April 15. The exact time and location had not been announced yet, but those interested in attending can check the Facebook Page under "Team Cameron" for updates. The family requests that attendees wear something red, white or blue in Cameron's honor.
