Flagler Titans cheerleaders named Pop Warner All-American scholars
Flagler Titans Pop Warner cheerleaders Mackenzie Gennaro and Angela Powell were recently recognized by Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc. and were named Second Team All-American Scholars.
In 2017, more than 6,100 scholars qualified for the Pop Warner All-American Scholar program, representing the top 2% of all scholar-athletes across the country.
The Pop Warner All-American Scholar Program requires a minimum 96% GPA to apply, and students are ranked by grade level, using a scoring system determined by GPA and community service involvement.
Pak’s Karate promotes students at quarterly belt testing
Pak’s Karate promoted Trenton Neuenfeldt and Amir and Asim Tariq to black belt at its first quarterly belt testing of the year.

Mission Possible holds best 5K fundraiser to date
Santa Maria del Mar held its third-annual Mission Possible 5K run/walk Saturday, April 8, in Flagler Beach.
Timothy McGuire, 14, won the event with a 20:49 time. Locals Jose Musso, Jody Marolf, Phil DeAugustino and Alla Ouvarova finished out the Top 5.
The church also held a kids 10U donation-only “Bolt for Brian” 50-yard dash named for the Brian Pisan Scholarship Fund.
This year’s 5K, according to Mission Possible’s Gina Dacosta, was the church’s best year yet with 150 runners. The monies raised from the event go to helping send the church’s teens on mission trips, youth conferences and Catholic youth summer camps.
CrossFit holds workout at the beach
Members of CrossFit Hammock Beach participated in their first beach workout Saturday, April 15, at Flagler Beach.
They performed various exercises, including carrying partners 50 yards on their back and tossing 6-20-pound medicine balls to each other.

Matanzas softball wins by forfeit and still plays games
The Lady Pirates (16-7, 8-3) won their district game against the Pine Ridge Panthers, who forfeited on Wednesday, April 12.
Matanzas still held its senior night ceremony, and everyone played kickball afterwards. The Pirates will begin their district tournament Tuesday, April 24, at Deltona.
