Celebrating 100 years of Flagler County

The official commemoration of the county's 100-year birthday is this Saturday, April 29.

For the committee that has planned and organized Flagler County's Centennial Celebration for months now, the events this Saturday, April 29 are a culmination of their hard work and efforts.

For the community, it's a chance to finally and officially have a 100-year birthday party.

The day's lineup includes:

  • 9 a.m.: Fun Run/Walk around the Governmental Services Building. The first 100 participants across the finish line will receive a commemorative medallion. Also, registration for the historically-themed geocaching treasure hunt begins.
  • 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Opening ceremony; classic car show; announcement of centennial photo contest winners; kids zone with games, fire truck train rides, and crafts like a Mr. Potato Head contest; music from elementary, middle school and high school choirs and jazz bands; tours of the Emergency Operations Center.
  • 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Food trucks from a variety of local vendors.
  • 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.: Speeches by state and local dignitaries; historical reenactments of the first County Commission and School Board meetings; a Henry Flagler reenactor; and a performance of "The Three Wives of Henry Flagler."
  • 3 p.m.: Closing ceremony.

All events take place at the Flagler County Government Services Building, 1769 E. Moody Blvd., Bunnell.
