Musicals, live jazz and cycling round out this week's local happenings

Theater-goers can choose between two stage shows this weekend.

John & Jen: The Musical

When: 7:30 p.m., Friday, Saturday, and Sunday April 28, 29 and 30; again on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday May 4, 6 and 7

Where: City Repertory Theatre, 160 Cypress Point Pkwy.

Details: With a beautiful score, the musical tells the sweeping story of complicated relationships between brother and sister during the 1960s in America, and mother and son during the 1980s.

Sweeney Todd

When: 7 p.m., Thursday, Friday and Saturday April 27, 28 and 29; 4 p.m. on Monday, April 30

Where: Matanzas High School, 3535 Old Kings Road

Details: Stephen Sondheim's classic macabre musical tale of "The Demon Barber of Fleet Street," this adaptation is presented by the Matanzas High School Thespians, directed by MHS drama teacher Richard Whelan.

Tickets: $12 for students, $7 for students at the door; $10 for adults, $5 for students when pre-ordered at www.statechamps.com/matanzashsfl.

Music Under the Stars

When: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday April 28

Where: City Marketplace, 160 Cypress Point Pkwy.

Details: Free jazz concert, featuring the Flagler Palm Coast High School Jazz Band. Businesses will be hosting an open house, with refreshments, free giveaways, prizes and a raffle drawing; the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. (bring your own chair).The Sheriff's Office will be doing free fingerprinting registrations for children.

7th Annual Cycle Flagler Ride

When: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. (with an optional 7 a.m. start for Century riders.), Sunday April 30

Where: Flagler Executive Airport, 201 Airport Rd., Bunnell

Details: The Rotary Club of Flagler Beach is once again hosting their Cycle Flagler Ride for Rotary charity event, offering a variety of ride distances ranging from 25 to 100 miles through some of the area’s most scenic roads. All proceeds go to help fund Rotary’s local and international projects.
