Bob Hamlin finishes his second straight Boston Marathon
Flagler County Runner Bob Hamlin Boston Marathon, 65, finished his second Boston Marathon in 4:25:38 on Monday April 17.
Hamlin injured his hamstring 10 weeks ago and was unable to properly train for the marathon, running as long as three miles throughout his 10-week plan. Unsure he would actually run, his fellow FCR member Jesse Bech Magee encouraged him, saying, “Bob, you earned your spot. Go for it.”
Bob said he expected to do a combination of running and walking, but “the extremely loud vocal encouragement from the estimated 500,000 spectators lining the 26.2-mile route kept me running.”
Flagler Beach’ Michael McKeon also participated in the marathon and finished with a time of 3:24:49.
