The fresh, local fruits and vegetables for sale at the Ormond Beach Farmers Market at the Ormond Beach City Hall every week are a good start to building a healthy lifestyle, but there is always more to learn.
At 10:30 a.m. every Thursday in August, the market will have guest speakers, who will discuss new and different approaches to wellness. The talks are free and no reservations are required.
“The farmers market is a great way to connect people with healthy options,” said Julia Truilo, Executive Director of Ormond Beach MainStreet. “The talks are the brainchild of Alice Novak of Alvarez Farms. She and her family have been bringing pesticide-free produce to the Ormond Beach Farmers Market for three years. “
Ormond Beach MainStreet sponsors the weekly market, which is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Thursday.
Nearly 20 people attended the first talk, in the meeting room off the breezeway, to hear Dr. Michael O’Connor and Mark Walczyk talked about “Natural Disease Prevention: The Time is now for igniting your health and energy.”
Upcoming talks include:
Aug. 10 – Living to 110 years by preventing and reversing heart disease, by Dr. Mirza Kaz. Kaz co-founded CHAD’s Center in Daytona Beach, where the focus is nutrition, exercise and lifestyle changes to promote wellness with holistic medicine.
Aug. 17 – Herbs for Health with Alice Novak. Novak is a certified family herbalist and part of the farm family at Alvarez Farms who will speak about using herbs in the kitchen and to support the body.
