Unwillingly Letting Go
2 p.m.—100 block of Lucky Drive
Theft. After a previous case regarding her items being put up for sale on classifieds website Letgo.com, a woman continued her search for her stuff, finding several handbags listed under a Port Orange woman’s account. She then informed the owner of the purses of what was going on, who recognized her items due to the backgrounds of the photos, which where taken at her house.
The victim then went into her closet to look for the missing purses and they were not there. She searched the house, finding six Coach purses in her granddaughter’s room she shares with her boyfriend.
The victim went back on Letgo.com and saw that the Port Orange woman had sold one of the purses, with a second still for sale. She told police the handbags are valued at about $1,100.
Cash Back
5:55 a.m.—1100 block of W. Granada Boulevard
Arrest. A Speedway Gas Station employee was arrested for taking cash from the business instead of putting it in the safe. The woman was caught on security camera footage multiple times with cash in her hand. She would pretend to put the money in the safe, but the safe would not register any money being dropped.
Instead, she was seen placing it in her purse, her pocket, crumpling the money and taking it with her, or in one instance, placing it in her shoe.
The gas station reported $643.88 were taken from the safe. After the woman admitted to taking around $500 to $600, matching what Speedway reported, she was transferred to the Volusia County Branch Jail.
