Vandals have marked homes on Rocking Horse Lane and Rolling Sands Drive with graffiti, some of which is "similar to 'white power' symbols," according to a Flagler County Sheriff's Office report.
The incidents happened Aug. 5-8. In the Rocking Horse Lane case, the victim told a deputy Aug. 8 that someone had vandalized his overhead garage door at 62 Rocking Horse Lane sometime between 5 p.m. the previous night and 6 a.m. that morning.
The victim's wife had noticed it when she left the morning of Aug. 8 to go to work.
The graffiti, all drawn in black, included a symbol that looked like a "z shape or possibly a modified swastikas," plus a circle with a cross in its center, the number 666 on the outside and the letters "W" and "P" — possibly for "white power" — in the center, according to the deputy's report.
"I researched some graffiti symbols online, and it should be noted that some of the symbols are similar to 'white power' symbols," the deputy wrote in the case report.
On Rolling Sands Drive, a deputy on patrol Aug. 6 noticed blue graffiti spray paint — an "R" with a three-point crown and a heart —on the garage door at 43 Rollings Sands. The home was bank-owned.
There was more graffiti at 15 Rolling Sands Drive. Again, there was a blue "R" with a three-point crown. But there was also graffiti in black paint — the words "stay white" — and additional graffiti in both black and blue paint along the side of the house.
At 107B Rolling Sands Drive, a resident's pickup truck was spray painted with the blue "R" and crown symbol.
