A Flagler Beach McDonald’s celebrated the finishing touches to over a half year’s worth of work in remodeling and updating the restaurant.
Employees, Flagler Beach Mayor Linda Provencher, Flagler County Sheriff's Office Commander Gerald Ditolla as well as several members of the fire department met at the McDonald’s located at 6030 E. State Road 100 to celebrate the remodeling of the store, which is owned by Sugie Riley.
Riley said she wanted to modernize the look of the restaurant as well as update the restaurant’s technology, including the addition of several self-serving kiosks.
Remodeling started in November 2016, but the store was only closed for one week when the floor was replaced, Riley said.
“Because this area has grown so much, I wanted to make sure we keep on updating so we could provide the very best to our customers,” Riley said. “I hope this becomes another new, revitalized gathering spot for our community.”
Through June and July, Florida Hospital Flagler was one of four Florida Hospitals that collected school and medical supplies for two local charities.
Employees of the hospitals donated school supplies to the Jewish Federation of Volusia and Flagler counties. Employees filled more than 50 boxes with crayons, notebooks, pencils, pens, index cards, glue stick, scissors, backpacks and more.
The medical supplies — which included cotton balls, band aides, cold packs, gloves and tissues — were donated to clinics at schools in eastern Volusia County and Flagler County.
“We were so thrilled to receive this outpouring of support from Florida Hospital. With this generous gift, we will be able to help more than 7,000 local students,” Gloria Max of the Jewish Federation said in a release. “In 22 years, we will have helped over 100,000 students receive backpacks filled with supplies.”
Flagler County Commission Chair Nate McLaughlin will reach a mile stone on Tuesday, Aug. 15.
McLaughlin will participate in his 200th ribbon cutting since taking office. The ribbon cutting will take place at Ciao Bella Salon and Academy at its new location on 28 Old Kings Road North.
Margherita Perry, who has owned the salon for six years, decided to move her store to a larger location and add the academy. The school will operate in the back of 1,800-square-foot facility with the on-site salon in the front.
“These are very important days to the individual businesses that are hosting these events,” McLaughlin said. “The Board of County Commissioners likes to show support to these entrepreneurs who put their faith in our community.”
