Volusia County Court Judge Christopher Kelly will run for re-election in 2018.
Kelly, who was first elected in 2012 with 63% of the vote, was recently appointed as the administrative county court judge for Volusia County. He also currently holds leadership roles within the Conference of County Court Judges in Florida.
Before he was elected, Kelly served as a managing assistant state attorney in the Seventh Judicial Circuit, which comprises Volusia, Flagler, St. Johns and Putnam County, where he prosecuted felonies and misdemeanors, as well as some drug and domestic violence cases.
Kelly has also served on the Daytona Beach Leadership Council, Daytona Housing Authority Commission, Daytona Beach Track Club Board of Directors, Komen Race for the Cure Committee and the Father Lopez High School Board of Education — the school from which he graduated.
He is also the son of former Daytona Beach Mayor Larry Kelly, who served from 1974 to 1993.
The election for the Volusia County Court Judge, Group 4 seat, will take place on Aug. 28, 2018.
