Girl thought missing found safe at home

A two-year-old girl thought to have been missing on Sunday, Aug. 27, was found the same day at the same the Port Orange residence where she had been reported missing, according the computer aided dispatch report. 

The child's grandmother stated she was in the back bedroom when she went to check on her granddaughter in another bedroom and found the two year old was missing, according to the Port Orange Police Department CAD report. 

According to the report, the grandmother told authorities the front door of the apartment was found open, allegedly due to guests leaving. 

"What she really meant was that it was unlocked," the report explained.

The report indicates that the child was eventually found in the same the bedroom the grandmother had claimed to have been in when the child went missing. 

"How she got in the same bed the grandmother claimed to have been in without the grandmother's knowledge is a mystery," according to the report. 

According to the report, the mother of the child responded to the scene and took custody of the child.
