The local Friend’s Bank was robbed Thursday, Aug. 31, after a man slid a note to a teller demanding money.
The Ormond Beach Police department arrived at the bank, located at 208 S. Nova Road, at around 12:38 p.m. They were notified of the incident after the bank’s security company saw employees with their hands up on the security feed. Police reported the man implied he was armed, forcing two bank employees into the vault, and leaving through the front door with the stolen money.
OBPD, along with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office Air One unit and the Daytona Beach Police K-9 unit, are currently searching for the man, described as a black male wearing a yellow shirt, blue jeans, dark rain boots and dark baseball cap. During the robbery, the man pulled a mesh material over his face, which police believe to be pantyhose.
This is a developing story.
