Sidelines: Hawks' boys and girls soccer teams continue with blistering starts to the season

After losing its first game of the season, the Spruce Creek boys soccer team won its sixth game in a row with a 3-0 shutout of New Smyrna Beach on Dec. 1. The Hawks' girls team won its eight-straight game to open the season, routing DeLand 7-1 on Dec. 5.  The girls had previously beaten Deltona 8-0 on Nov. 28.

Sharks' girls weightlifting takes first place in meet

Atlantic's girls weightlifting team (6-1) defeated Taylor and Father Lopez with a total score of 58 on Nov. 29.

Hawks' boys basketball winless, girls improve to 2-1

Spruce Creek's boys basketball team (0-4) lost to Edgewater 67-30 on Nov. 30 and dropped a close game to Winter Park 42-37 on Dec. 1. The girls team, which won its season-opener against University, continued its great start to the season with a 61-57 win over Florida Prep on Dec. 1. However, the Hawks lost to Timber Creek 50-48 on the second night of a back-to-back on Dec. 2.
