Ormond Beach Elementary officially joined the other various businesses and city buildings illuminating the city's downtown after its lighting ceremony on Friday, Dec. 8.
“People are going to be excited to see Ormond Beach Elementary lit up at night now like it never has been before," Ormond Beach Mayor Bill Partington said. "And what a perfect time, right before the Christmas parade tomorrow night. It’s going to be fantastic.”
Thanks to the school's PTA, Ormond MainStreet, Oasis Church and the city, OBE held a dinner to commemorate the special occasion. Aside from the mayor and his parents, in attendance were also Ormond MainStreet Director Julia Truilo and Oasis Church members who helped to provide a meal to the 77 families.
The lights were installed by Reihl Electric thanks to funding from OBE PTA, US Glass, the school's Extended Day program and an anonymous donor from downtown Ormond Beach. Everything was organized by Ormond MainStreet.
OBE Principal Tucker Harris thanked the families and hyped the kids up with his usual "Boom!" catchphrase.
“When you drive around, this is a special place, you can say that’s my school," Harris said. "That’s my school at nighttime when everybody knows it’s there.”
