Police searching for man who robbed Ormond Beach Sleep Inn at gunpoint

The suspect entered the motel lobby early morning on Thursday and ordered the clerk to hand him the money from the register.

The Ormond Beach Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that took place in local Sleep Inn motel at around 12:50 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7, where an unknown man aimed a gun at the front desk clerk.

Police report that the suspect, covered from head-to-toe in black, entered the lobby of the motel and placed a silver revolver on the front desk counter, keeping his finger on the trigger and aiming it at the clerk. The man asked the clerk how many cash registers

were open and if the daily deposit had been made. The clerk told him there was only one cash register and that they had already completed their deposit.

The suspect obtained the cash till from the register and fled the scene in a silver four-door sedan. Police are describing the suspect as a black male, approximately 5 ft. 11 in. to 6 ft. 2 in. tall, and between 230-250 pounds.
