A transient man was killed in a traffic accident on Friday, Dec. 8, after he rolled his body into the path of an incoming pickup truck traveling south around the 500 block of Bryant St.
Police report that Stanley Ray Cannon, 54, was sitting in the shoulder of the street and began rolling further into the traffic lane at around 4:48 p.m. The driver attempted to swerve to avoid hitting Cannon, but his rear passenger tire struck him regardless. Police suspect Cannon was drunk at the time of the crash.
Cannon, who was determined to be at fault for the accident, was transported to Halifax Health where he was pronounced dead at 7:15 p.m. that day.
