Leafy conflict

3:30 p.m. — 400 block of Collins St.

Battery Touch/Strike. A 61-year-old man was arrested after he punched another man whom he believed had stolen his plant.

Police report the man came to the victim's house twice in one day accusing him of the theft, and when the victim denied it, he went up the ramp of the victim's home and punched him in the face. He then pushed the victim into the house. The victim sported a scratch on the right side of his face when police arrived.

The man was found intoxicated in his home's backyard by police officers shortly afterward. He told them the victim had stolen his fishing poles and his plant. However, police found out the fishing poles were sold by the man's landlord by mistake and had been returned prior to the incident.

His plant's whereabouts remain unknown.

Oh brother

8:12 p.m. — 200 block of E. Granada Blvd.

False Name. In a quick turn of events, a man ended up being the one arrested after calling police to tell them he was being followed by other people around the CVS parking lot.

The 50-year-old Daytona Beach resident met with a couple officers outside the store, who noted he was twitching, wringing his hands and shifting his eyes. He spontaneously told police that he had been partying earlier in the night and that he "dropped some Molly."

When the officers asked him for his name, the man provided them with his brother's name instead, insisting that it was his. Police showed him a photograph of the person under the name he gave them, to which the man replied "that's my brother."

He was later transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail.

Pants down

8:36 p.m. — 1400 block of W. Granada Blvd.

Disorderly Intoxication. Police arrested a drunk 41-year-old Daytona Beach man whose pants were falling down and who was causing a disturbance in front of Publix.

The man was causing customers to divert from their original routes in and out of the store as he laid on the street. Some good samaritans helped the man get out of the road to avoid being run over before police arrived.

Once at the scene, an officer made contact with the man, who was belligerent and struggling to keep his pants from falling down. The officer tried to help him redress, but the man kept moving away. He did, however, tell the officer he had been drinking and at one point tell him he wanted to go to jail.

He changed his mind once in handcuffs when police began to search him, actively resisting law enforcement. But, his initial wish was granted and he was taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail.
