The man who fled from the scene of two crashes, including a crash involving Flagler County deputy Bret Wood, is now behind bars, according to a news release by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

James Rex Voorhees, 74, was arrested at his home in South Carolina on Nov. 29 and extradited on a warrant for leaving two crash scenes at State Road 100 and Interstate 95 in Flagler County on Nov. 22.

Wood has recovered from his injuries and has returned to duty.

Voorhees is being held in the Flagler County Detention Facility on a $6,000 bond.

“Thanks again to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office for helping us track Voorhees down and to the Florida Department of Corrections for transporting him to the Green Roof Inn,” Sheriff Rick Staly said in a release.
