Three residents from the greater Ormond Beach area will star in the upcoming "Miracle on 34th Street," a holiday show at the Daytona Playhouse about a child's belief in Santa Claus.
Ormond Beach resident Julia Ambrose plays Susan Walker in this holiday classic directed by Ted Pack told in the style of a live '40s radio broadcast. After a Macy's Santa claiming to be Kris Kringle leads to a trial in the New York Supreme Court, Susan faces the opportunity to gain something to believe in.
Also starring in the show is Ormond-By-the-Sea resident Grace Riley who plays Susan's mother on the show. She is romantically pursued by Fred Gailey, who is played by Johnathan Foege, another resident of Ormond-By-the-Sea.
Join the Veterans Assistance Coalition, the Florida Rolling Thunder Chapter 8 and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1048 for a wreath-laying ceremony on National Wreaths Across America Day on Saturday, Dec. 16
The ceremony will start at noon at the Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery located near the intersection of N. Nova Road and W. Granada Blvd. It is one of more than 1,200 ceremonies taking place that day across the U.S. honoring deceased veterans.
The American Legion Auxiliary Post no. 267 in Ormond Beach presented a $6,100 check to Carol Rumer, who represented Florida Hospital Imaging.
The money will be used for cancer screening and treatments. It was raised at a previous American Legion Auxiliary Post breast cancer event.
