Tim Burman has been named community development director for the city of Port Orange, according to a city announcement.
Burman has held the title of interim community development director since October after former Community Development Director Wayne Clark stepped down from the position to pursue a career in North Carolina.
Clark's last day with the city was at the end of September.
“I’m very excited to have Tim on board to serve as a director for this department," City Manager Jake Johansson said. “He has made some great decisions in community development over the past few months, internal and external to the organization, that will move our city forward. I look forward to his fresh set of eyes and innovative ideas.”
Burman started working for the city in May 2004 after graduating from Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources and earning his Master’s Degree in Urban Planning from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He has since held the position of assistant planner, planner, principal planner and planning manager.
Burman is also a member of the American Planning Association and Urban Land Institute.
