Update: Missing 80-year-old man found safe in Alachua County

The man was last seen Tuesday, Dec. 19.

An 80-year-old man who was reported missing on Tuesday, Dec. 19, has been safely recovered, according to the Port Orange Police Department.

Authorities had been attempting to locate James Connery, who was reported missing around 10:16 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 19, from 73 Maple in the Wood. 

Connery was last seen at approximately 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 19, and was believed to have left his residence driving a gold 2006 Dodge Caravan bearing Florida tag 007PQV.

Connery is believed to suffer from early stages of dementia. Connery’s credit card was used at a Citgo station at 1415 Eudora Rd., Mt Dora, at 9:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 19. 

Connery was entered into FCIC as missing with a Silver Alert activation completed through FDLE.
