The second annual Trails Trade Show is set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., March 26, in the Clubhouse, 201 Main Trail. Residents can find out what businesses are operating just down the block or around the corner. And in addition to home-based businesses, area store-front businesses and others are also invited. For example, Humana plans on having a table.
“It’s a great way to showcase your business.”
BRANDIE HAYES, HOA president
There were about 30 businesses last year according to Brandie Hayes, community association manager. They are expecting a bigger turnout this year, because last year was on Super Bowl Sunday, so neighbors were probably thinking about making snacks for the big game.
There are 990 homes in The Trails, and a good number of residents have their own business, Hayes said. There’s everything from Tupperware to Essential Oils to hair coloring.
“It’s a great way to showcase your business,” she said.
There will be drawings for prizes at some of the tables as well as a grand door prize.
The idea for the show started a couple of years ago when Hayes was organizing local home businesses on the Nextdoor website.
She remembers saying, “We have so many home-based businesses; we could have our own trade show.” Then she thought, “That’s a good idea.”
Vendors get one free box lunch and can have extras for $12 each. There will be a free continental breakfast in the morning as the vendors set up.
Hayes also said the HOA likes to showcase the residents and uses local businesses whenever they can.
