I would like to start this column by giving you a little background about me.
I have been writing a pet column for various publications for more than 20 years. I am looking forward to writing about Ormond pets.
During my life I have been adopted 12 times, by six dogs and six cats. This does not count the birds that have flown into our lives, including the current avian resident, Rosie the African Grey.
I have loved and been loved, by each and every one. My heart has broken when they died in most cases well into their teen years.
Currently I share my home with Kodi the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Buddy the shorty Jack Russell, Samantha the cat, and Rosie. They are all different in their personalities and breeds, but have one thing in common – each was adopted – or adopted me depending on your perspective.
I have never met a person who doesn't like to talk about their animals. I can’t tell you the number of times someone has taken the time to show me a photo of a loved pet.
These are the lucky pets.
I want to invite you to email me photos of your pets and a short story of how you got together, maybe an anecdote. As space permits, I will add these into my “Pet Guests of the Week.” Email them to [email protected]
My column is about pet care, pet stories in our area and the pets at Halifax Humane Society that are looking for homes. I hope to have photos from the shelter each week to give you an idea of what they have available and maybe to raise awareness to the needs of the homeless pets in our area.
