Barbara Roberts, former Park Manager at Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area, and now park manager at Weeki Wachee Springs State Park, cut the red ribbon at Smith Creek Landing on Wednesday, Jan. 11.
The event celebrated the completion of a 10-year project to restore nearly 100 acres of salt water marshes, back to their original state, prior to the dredging of the Intracoastal Waterway. Representatives from the Florida State Park department in Tallahassee, the St. John River Management District, and many park personnel and volunteers were on hand to celebrate the event. Tours on land and water were offered following the ribbon cutting.
