The Flagler Bulldogs (12-0) dominated the Flagler Duals, going a perfect 10-0 to capture the first-place title this past weekend, Jan. 14-15, at FPC.
The Bulldogs beat Bishop Kenny 61-9, Oakleaf 68-6, Sandalwood 58-16, New Smyrna Beach 64-12, Allen Nease 66-18, Seabreeze 75-6, Orlando Jones 81-0, Fletcher 63-12, Palatka 63-6 and Treasure Coast 69-12.
“Our team is doing well,” coach Tom Bartolotta said. “We are undefeated in dual meets this year, and we look to capture a district and regional title and contend for a Top 3 finish in the state tournament. Michael DeAugustino and Avery Holder are frontrunners to win a state championship; they look real tough.”
DeAugustino and Holder went 10-0 in all their matches, along with Steve Canidate and Damion Figouera. Michael Martins (9-0), Vincent Ebanks, Curtis Brock and Tyler Irigoyen (8-0) also went undefeated.
Christian Sheppard and Tyrone Jones went 9-1, and Devonte Williams went 7-1.
The Bulldogs next face Clay Thursday, Jan. 19, at Clay.
Dual juggernauts? The Bulldogs have gone 83-4 in dual meets, since Bartolotta became head coach.
Save the last match: Crosstown rivals FPC and Matanzas didn’t compete against each other, but they will go head to head at 6:30 (JV) and 7 p.m. (varsity) Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Matanzas.
