If your regular commute includes driving down North Washington Street, you'll need to prepare for one more stop.

This week, the city installed a four-way stop at the intersection of New Britain Avenue and North Washington Street. It was previously just a two-way stop on New Britain.

City Manager Joyce Shanahan highlighted visibility and speed concerns as the reason for the update. According to the Ormond Beach Police Department, there have been two warnings, two citations and two accidents at that intersection in the past year.

"We regularly evaluate areas for safety issues," Shanahan said in an email. "For example, the corner of Tomoka Avenue and Ridgewood Avenue — which had long been a two-way stop — was converted to a four-way stop a couple of years ago for traffic safety reasons."
