Mainland Bucs selected to All-State team
Several Mainland Buccaneers were selected to the Florida All-State Class 6A First- and Second-Team. Denzel Houston (QB), Cyrus Fagan (DB), Julio Thompson (LB) were selected to First-Team, and Kevon McCrary (DL) and Maurice Headen (LB) were selected to Second-Team.
The Bucs went 13-1 this past season, reaching the postseason for the 24th consecutive season, but they were eliminated in the semifinals by Carol City (Miami).
Dylan Oakes, Student-Athlete of the Month
The Ormond Beach Lions Club has honored Seabreeze senior Dylan Oakes as its Student-Athlete of the Month for January.
Oakes plays on the basketball team, and he serves as team captain for both track and cross country teams.
He possesses an unweighted 3.91 GPA, ranking him 10th in his class. He scored 1370 on the SAT and a 28 on the ACT. Oakes has earned a number of awards and honors, including the Certificate of Excellence for earning straight A’s and the Presidential Physical Fitness Award. He has also attended the National Society of High School Scholars, hosted by the CIA in Washington, DC.
Oakes will be attending Embry Riddle University, earning a four-year degree in Homeland Security.
Free sports camps for Allen Asher Weekend
Atlanta Falcon Ricardo Allen and Dan kicking Guru Dan Lundy will be hosting the largest free football clinic in the United States. The Allen Asher Weekend is celebrating two men, Bud Asher and Ricardo Allen, who have impacted the local football community, locally, and throughout the country.
The weekend includes two days of FREE events: Ricardo Allen Football Camp, Feb. 11
This event is for all offensive and defensive positions (current 8th-12th graders), and will be hosted by Allen, a former Mainland High School standout and current safety for the Atlanta Falcons — upcoming Super Bowl contestants. Allen will bring a group of Atlanta Falcons players with him to the event, and, in addition, to ensure all positions are coached, select Florida high school football coaches will be attending.
Bud Asher Kickback Football Camp, Feb. 12
This event is for kickers, punters, holders, and long snappers (Current 6th-12th graders) and will be hosted by coach Dan Lundy, One On One Kicking Camps, local NFL kickers Caleb Sturgis (Philadelphia Eagles) and Cairo Santos (KC Chiefs), over a dozen additional NFL specialists, and more than 50 active collegiate specialists.
Both days will include two practices, lunch in between, and a camp T-shirt, all free of charge. Due to the overwhelming number of registrants last year, both events will be capped at 300. Once the cap is reached, online registration for the event will be closed.

Lady Sandcrabs soccer eliminated in district tournament
The Seabreeze Lady Sandcrabs were eliminated in the district semifinal by Pine Ridge 4-3 in overtime.
Seabreeze went 15-8-1 this past season, scoring 99 goals and 89 assists.
Junior Alauna Neely finished the season with team bests 25 goals and 20 assists. Senior Madison Politis ends the year with 21 goals and 20 assists. Junior Kaylee Haas had 11 goals and six assists, and her sister, freshman Kara, had nine goals and 13 assists.
The Sandcrabs will be losing seniors Politis, Alex Hoffman, Amber Kelley and Skyler Mayo.
