FPC Bulldogs attain Disney All-American status
Flagler Palm Coast Bulldogs wrestlers John Johnson, Tyrone Jones, Eddie Bryant, Tyler Irigoyen, and Vincent Ebanks earned individual All American honors at the AAU Wrestling Scholastic Duals on Friday, June 16, at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports.
Collectively, the Bulldogs went 10-4 and placed fifth as a team. Johnson and Ebanks both went undefeated at 14-0 and 11-0 respectively. Jones went 12-2, and Bryant 9-2. Irigoyen went 11-3. The Bulldogs became Disney All-Americans for the fourth year in a row.
Mike DeAugustino helped Central Florida Wrestling Academy place third with his 10-2 record, earning All-American honors in the All-Star Division. His only two losses came by nationally-ranked Jordan Crace (No. 14) and the nation’s top-ranked wrestler Patrick Glory.
Avery Holder wrestled for the Spec Ops All-Star Team and went 8-4 for the week.
Palm Coaster Victoria Woroniecki wins bronze in American Synchronized event
Continuing their summer synchronized swimming run, local Victoria Woroniecki and her duet partner, Anita Alvarez won bronze in the free final at the Synchro America Open Saturday, June 24, in East Meadow, New York.
The pair have competed together in the French, China and Japan Opens and will compete in the FINA World Championships from July 14-22, in Budapest, Hungary.
Annual kids fishing clinic
The Flagler Sportfishing Club will be sponsoring its eight-annual Kids Fishing Clinic from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, at Bings Landing at 5862 N. Ocean Shore Blvd.
The clinic is open to kids ages 5-15, and they will go through different stations, learning knot tying, cast net throwing, casting, proper fish handling, etc. After completing all stations, fishing rods and reels will be given out to the first 200 kids.
For cost, each participant is asked to bring one non-perishable food item to go to the Food Pantry in Bunnell. Call Captain Mike Vickers at 569-9674 email him at [email protected].
Senior Softball League looking for players
Flagler Senior Softball is seeking to recruit players for its slow pitch softball leagues for both men and women (Flagler residence not required).
The men have two age leagues (55+ and 65+), and women have multiple ages. Games are played in the mornings at the Flagler County Fairgrounds in Bunnell.
