Unfortunate Bladder

6:30 p.m. —300 Block W. Granada Blvd.

Arrest. A store clerk for the Shell gas station noticed a man pull down his pants in the parking lot, exposing himself in public. The clerk then watched him leave the immediate area. The man was found by a police officer further down Granada Boulevard on a Votran bus bench. The Michigan native was facing the Winn-Dixie parking lot with his pants unzipped as he urinated.

The man told the police officer he had Crohn’s Disease, causing his frequent urination. After the police officer documented the still-wet urine around the Votran bus bench for evidence, the man was transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail on charges of indecent exposure in public and disorderly conduct.

When In Doubt, Salute

12:19 a.m. —800 Block S. Atlantic Ave.

Arrest. A Holly Hill resident was driving under the influence when he lost control of his SUV, subsequently uprooting a tree, causing it to lean and bursting a nearby water pipe. When police asked him if he had been drinking, the man denied it until one of the officers mentioned they could smell alcohol on his breath. The man then admitted he had three alcoholic drinks before crashing and that he “hit a few puffs of weed.”

After checking his car, police found a bottle of Canadian Whiskey in the cup holder.

During the DUI investigation, the man missed his nose during the Finger to Nose exercise and touched his right eyebrow instead. He then saluted the officer. During another exercise, he was instructed to count to 30 seconds in his head. The man counted 80 instead just “to be sure” and saluted the officer by putting his hand to his nose.

The man was sent to the Volusia County Branch Jail on charges of DUI with damage to property and driving with a suspended, canceled or revoked license.
