From Rockefeller Gardens to Cassen Park and City Hall, 3,500 people laid out their blankets and set up their beach chairs to celebrate Independence Day in Ormond Beach. The event, hosted by the city, spanned across both sides of the Granada bridge with music, food trucks and activities for kids. Down in Rockefeller Gardens, children were able to meet and take pictures with special guests Abraham Lincoln, Benjamin Franklin, and George and Martha Washington.
At 9:30 p.m., the city commissioners and Ormond Beach Mayor Bill Partington "triggered" the fireworks with a faux TNT box. Attendees were then able to watch as fireworks burst across the sky with patriotic music in the background.
