Dozens of "extremely dangerous" altered fireworks are missing in the aftermath of a burglary of at Big Nic’s Boom Boom Sticks at 2121 N.
The burglary came to light after two boys, ages 7 and 8, were injured when they found some altered fireworks at Dr. Carver Park July 9 and tried to light them, according to a Flagler County Sheriff's Office news release. The fireworks exploded, causing severe injuries to one boy's hand and there other's face.
The Sheriff's Office and the Bunnell Police Department has asked anyone who is in possession of the fireworks to turn them over to any law enforcement or fire department immediately, no questions asked, according to the news release.
“The primary concern is the safety of the community and children, and to get these dangerous and altered fireworks off of the streets,” Sheriff Rick Staly said in the news release. “We do not want to see anyone else get hurt. These stolen fireworks have already caused permanent disfigurement to two small children, and one child’s life has been changed forever.”
The Sheriff's Office has asked anyone with information about the burglary to contact the Sheriff's Office at 386-313-4911 or to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers tipsters may be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.00 for information leading to an arrest.
