The Ormond-by-the-Sea Lions Foundation, Inc. presented two $1,000 Al
Weeks, Sr. Memorial Scholarships to two Ormond Beach residents.
The recipients were Cody Carrier, a 2017 graduate of Spruce Creek High School, and Dalton Dalecki, a 2017 graduate of Seabreeze High School
Cody will be attending Williams College in Massachusetts, and Dalton will attend Daytona State College.
The students and their families attended the presentation at the June meeting.
The Ormond-by-the-Sea Lions Club celebrated their installation of Officers on June 3, at the Club Room of the Caribbean Condominium. Lion Les Walter was awarded the 2017 Janet King Outstanding Service Award for extraordinary service and dedication to the Club. A charger member of the club, Walter also received a 100th Anniversary Lions Club Coin.
Volusia County Council Representative Heather Post conducted the “cereal” installation ceremony, with each office relating to a different cereal.
The 2017-2018 Officers and Board of Directors installed were: Bobbie Cheh, president; Peggy Bull, first vice president; Julia Alexander, second vice president, Katie Hamlin; Shirley Graham, secretary; Paul Alexander, Colleen O’Conner, and Dianne Zeimetz, directors. Frank White, lion tamer; John Thomas and Les Walter, tail twisters; and George Schneider, membership chair.
The Club meets the first and third Wednesdays of every month at Alfies Restaurant, 1666 Ocean Shore Blvd.
