Port Orange Police arrest Regions Bank robbery suspect

The incident happened just before 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 13.

The Port Orange Police Department released a statement indicating the man who was suspected of robbing the Port Orange branch of Regions Bank has been arrested. 

According to authorities, Gregory Ozoniak, 53, was arrested by Daytona Beach Police at approximately 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 14 after police obtained a warrant for his arrest on Wednesday, July 13. 

Ozoniak has been charged with robbery without a firearm or weapon. 

The Port Orange Police Department had been investigating the robbery that took place at Regions Bank, located at 607 Dunlawton Ave. At approximately 9:50 a.m., police were dispatched to the bank in reference to the incident.

According to the report, a short time earlier, a white male who appeared to be approximately 50 years of age with short dark hair and wearing a green t-shirt and blue jean shorts, entered the bank and demanded an undisclosed amount of money. Authorities wrote that the suspect left the area on foot and that at the time his whereabouts had been unknown.

Police did not report any injuries.
