No injuries were reported after a fire broke out on Thursday, July 27 at a home on Nature View Circle within the Cypress Head Subdivision, according to the Port Orange Fire Department.

The Port Orange Fire Department, assisted by the New Smyrna Beach Fire Department, responded to the structure fire, which was believed to have been caused by lightning strike. Port Orange Fire Chief Ken Fustin said neighbors reported hearing a loud clap before smoke was seen coming out of the house.

According to officials, the fire, which was reported in the evening, burned through the roof of the house. Fustin said the interior of the home was completely destroyed and had heavy water damage. According to officials, it is estimated there was around half a million dollars in damage.

As of Friday, July 28, an investigation into the fire was being conducted.
