Front Yard Phrases owner Dan Moyer likes surprises.

In fact, his business revolves around them. With his new family business, the entrepreneur has found a way to bring joy to his customers by decorating their lawns, generating surprises and creating lifelong memories.
“I’ve already been getting e-mails and phone calls thanking me,” said Moyer, who opened his business last week. “It’s nice because it’s something different and they don’t expect it."

Moyer charges $40 from the customer and does whatever decoration is requested. Moyer and his 15-year-old son Reagan work during the middle of the night to decorate the front yard with a happy birthday, happy anniversary, gender reveal, wedding celebration or whatever the buyer can dream of.

This is Moyer’s first business and he enjoys the entrepreneur lifestyle. Prior to this business, Moyer was in the military and retail management. He enjoys being able to live his own hours, and how his days aren’t filled with any kind of dread.

“It’s a work in progress, but it is fun. You don’t dread doing it because you know how much excitement it brings to people,” Moyer said. “Most people go through life and kind of are just waiting for the weekend. As an entrepreneur, I am always thinking of my own business and don’t have to worry about that, so it’s good for me.”

Moyer, a Port Orange resident, hosted his company's ribbon cutting event at the Port Orange Chamber of Commerce on Thursday. He received a great turnout and is excited about what the community thinks of his new venture.

"It’s great to hear from someone to say how good it was," Moyer said. "It’s a business, but it’s something where you’re making someone smile and laugh.”
