The Ormond Beach Police Department has been notified on several occasions of a coyote sighting on the beachside of the city.

Officers are urging residents to not approach coyotes and to keep a close eye on their smaller pets.

If you are experiencing coyote problems, please contact the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservative Commission Wildlife Alert at 888-404-FWCC (3922) or your nearest FWC regional office, which is in Ocala at 352-732-1225.

According to the FWC, coyotes are found throughout Florida and have been documented in all 67 counties. The FWC provides citizens with information on how to protect themselves and their pets from coyotes on their website: myfwc.com/conservation/you-conserve/wildlife/coyotes/
