Port Orange Police reported the Criminal Investigation Deparment is looking into a shooting that injured one 45-year-old man early Monday morning.
According to authorities, a Port Orange police officer was called to 71 Golden Gate Circle for a report of a person shot just before 1 a.m.
Police reported the victim was found with a belt around his left leg, which the responding officer later replaced with a tourniquet. The victim stated his hand had been “blown up” by the same shot. The victim was transported to Halifax Health Medical Center.
The victim told authorities he had been on his way to an unknown store when he was attacked and shot.
Police reported there was only one victim.
