Just before 6 a.m. March 2, Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputies searched a home on Palm Coast's Emerson Drive and arrested a man they believe has been dealing drugs.
Members of the Sheriff's Office SWAT team and Special Investigations Unit entered the house at 30 Emerson Drive and detained 27-year-old Cyrus Terrell Brown and several family members after an investigation into local drug dealing, according to a Sheriff's Office arrest affidavit.
Brown directed the deputies to a blue cooler in a shed behind the house. It held mason jars containing a total of more than a pound of marijuana, and items used to pack and distribute marijuana.
There was also a small red soft-sided cooler inside the blue one, containing a plastic baggie with slightly more than 11 grams of powder cocaine.
In Brown's bedroom, deputies found scales, a grinder and a locked safe. Brown opened it, revealing a 9mm Glock handgun and two magazines, all reported stolen from an R-Section resident.
“Our Special Investigations Unit did a phenomenal job and worked quickly to shut down this operation and get the defendant behind bars,” Sheriff Rick Staly said in a Sheriff' Office news release. “It is my intention to go after anyone selling drugs in our community and also put them in the jail where they belong. There are still vacancies at the Green Roof Inn.”
Brown has been been charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana over 20 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia. He has not been charged with distributing drugs, but additional charges may be pending, according to the news release.
Deputies took Brown to the county jail, and he was released on $5,500 bond. Brown was arrested in Flagler County in 2009 on multiple drug charges including possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and was arrested again in 2010 on a charge of aggravated battery of a pregnant woman.
