A Palm Coast man was struck with a Taser by a deputy March 29 after trying to flee when the deputy tried to question him about a domestic violence incident.

The suspect, 26-year-old Pariate Moore, came to deputies' attention after his fiancee called the Sheriff's Office to report domestic violence.

The woman told deputies that she'd been at the Flagler Beach pier with Moore that afternoon, and that as they left, he accused her of cheating on him.

He pushed her and hit her inside the car, and told her she was going to die that day, she told deputies, according to an arrest report.

When the car neared Palm Coast's R-Section, "she was dragged out of the car into the woods where Moore struck with both and (sic) open hand and closed fist in the head several times," the woman told deputies. "He also continued to choke her while continuing to tell her he was going to kill her and throw her body in the creek."

A passer-by interrupted the assault, but Moore told her to leave, and hen continued to beat his fiancee as the couple drove toward a Robinson Drive house where the couple had been parking their car to sleep overnight in it, with the homeowner's permission.

Before the couple got to the house, Moore saw someone he knew and got out of the car to talk with the person. His fiancee jumped into the car's driver's seat and drove off, calling 911.

A Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputy met with the woman, who told the deputy what happened. The deputy noted in a report that the woman's face and head were bruised and swollen.

Meanwhile, Moore also called 911, reporting his car as stolen. The deputy went to the Robinson Drive home to meet with Moore.

Moore told the deputy that he'd been in an argument with the woman and that he'd pushed her and she'd banged her head, then took of in his car.

The deputy tried to secure Moore, but he ran. The deputy chased him, and a second deputy used a Taser on Moore, striking him on the left arm with a Taser dart. Moore continued to resist as deputies tried to take control of him.

An ambulance responded to check the wound on Moore's arm from the Taser probe and to check any other injuries that might have occurred as he resisted arrest, according to the arrest report.

Moore was charged with domestic battery by strangulation, battery domestic violence, aggravated assault domestic violence and resisting arrest with violence. Charges were added the next day, March 30, for driving without a license and for obstructing justice.

Moore was previously charged in 2009 with armed robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest without violence. He was sentenced to state prison and to community control, a type of house arrest, on the robbery charge. He was charged multiple times with probation violation and resisting arrest.
