Flagler Titans cheerleaders win four straight competitions
The Flagler Titans cheerleading squad has won four straight competitions in a month’s span, beginning with Reach the Beach on March 25, in Daytona Beach.
The squad went on to win Jam Bash on April 1, in Kissimmee, Cheersport Grand Championships the following week in Jacksonville and the Florida Cheer & Dance Association on April 22, in Orlando.
The Lady Titans finished with zero deductions in their last two competitions.
Those representing the squad include Laura Cleveland, Emelia Cooper, Avalon Dennis, Mackenzie Gennaro, Ashlyn Gilyard, Marcy Harding, Gracie Hyers, Kassidy Losoncy, Kaelynn Parker, Angela Powell, Mia Tramontano and Mary Wilcox. The coaching staff includes Danelle Moody, Sarah Moody and Tracey Matthews.
Epic Church wins dodgeball championship
Epic Church won the Rymfire Elementary School 10-team dodgeball tournament on Saturday, April 29, at RES.
Teams included some of the problem solvers, the Sheriff’s Department, Matanzas High School, Epic Church and several other organizations.
The tournament was held to help raise funds for students to travel for the International Future Problem Solvers Competition, on Saturday, April 29, at RES. The funds will benefit Rymfire's two Community Problem Solvers teams and other local teams that will compete on June 7-11 in Lacrosse, Wisconsin.
Hole-in-ones
Joe Chiarello aced the 138- yard 18th hole with a 7-hybrid golf club on Monday, April 17, at Cypress Knoll Golf Course. The shot was witnessed by playing partners John Locovozzi, Joe Merz and Mark Mooring.
John Sbordone also recorded a hole-in-one, at the 147-yard Par-3 12th hole on Tuesday, April 25, at Pine Lakes Golf Club. He was playing in a threesome with Mickie Mann Shelby Lee.
Kopec, local surfer, continues to win amongst peers and older competition
Braeden Kopec, a 10-year-old local surfer, has been stoked for the past several months. Braeden was recently named to the Eastern Surfing Association Jr. All Star Team, the youngest ever). He followed that up with a National Scholastic Surfing Association East Coast Championship in February. Braeden is one of only three surfers from Flagler to win an East Coast title in the last 15 years. He will head back to California in June for the NSSA National Championships.
