Calvary Christian soccer places in state tournament
In its second year in competition, Calvary Christian Academy's middle school soccer team placed fourth in the Florida Christian Association of Private and Parochial Schools State Soccer Tournament.
In the two-day tournament held in Lakeland Florida, the Lions played their way into the consolation round before losing.
CCA, composed of mostly sixth- and seventh-graders, finished the regular season with a 5-2 record. Gavin Butler and Luis Berriozobal were awarded All-State honors during the tournament.
Team players include Cullen Longo, Michael Rodriguez, Wade Walenc, Luis Berriozabal, Gavin Butler, Christian Anderson, Isaiah Griffin, Danya Cherry, Jasmine Shubert and Michael Tremoglie (not pictured), Simon Hogue, Peyton Raley, Andrew Richter, Enrique Thompson, Emmanuel Morales and Silas Hogue.
Seabreeze softball loses in region championship
The Seabreeze Lady Sandcrabs lost to Lake Region in the Region 2-7A Championship 10-0 on Friday, May 12, at Lake Region.
Despite the loss, Seabreeze finished the season with a 16-8 record and won two playoff games, which is a new school record.
Knights of Columbus to host golf tournament
The Knights of Columbus Council 8791 will host its annual charity golf tournament at 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, at the Riverbend Golf Course 8:30 shotgun start.
There will be three divisions: Open Division (all players), Senior (all players 60+) and Super Senior (all players 70+). The player fee will be $65, which includes golf, food, beverages and prizes.

Daytona Chapter of EWGA to advance after winning chapter championship
The Daytona Chapter of the Executive Women's Golf Association recently had 21 members compete in the chapter championship at Grand Haven Golf Club.
Two scramble teams and low gross/low net winners in five flights will be advancing to the semifinals on Saturday, June 24, in Birmingham Alabama.

Mainland flag football falls in first round of playoffs
After winning their district championship over Matanzas, the Mainland Lady Bucs fell to the Harmony Longhorns 13-0 Thursday, May 11, in Harmony.
The Bucs finished the season with a 12-2 record.
Spring football game schedule
The Seabreeze Sandcrabs will host the Flagler Palm Coast Bulldogs at 7 p.m. Friday, May 19, at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex.
The Mainland Buccaneers will play the Spruce Creek Hawks at the same time and same date at Spruce Creek.
