'Legal Weed' signs sprout up in Palm Coast, but they're a scam, according to the sheriff

A license is not required to legally obtain medical marijuana, but you do need a valid prescription.

The city of Palm Coast has been "peppered with signs" advertising "legal weed," according to a press release from the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

The person answering the phone number on the sign offers the caller a license to legally purchase medical marijuana. The person asks for credit card and driver's license information. However, a license is not required to legally obtain medical marijuana, but you do need a valid prescription.

“Don’t be taken in with the hope of getting medical marijuana," Sheriff Rick Staly said in the press release.  "The only thing you will get is the loss of your money. This is truly 'smoke and mirrors.'"
