As some teams who have punched their ticket to the title game await their opponents, the Black Mambas from the seniors division finished their season with a 10-7 win over rookie head coach Domingo Gonzalez’s team Saturday, May 20, at the Indian Trails Sports Complex.
The win completed the three-peat for the Mambas and their head coach, Raul Hernandez.
“I’ve been blessed to have kids and families believe in our coaching staff these last few years,” he said. “My goal as the coach
is to get them better every day and put them in a winning surrounding where they build confidence. Most of them want to play high school ball, and we want to set them up to be successful. I love baseball, and teaching the sport is in my DNA, so to be able to share it with these hardworking kids is a blessing."
As of today (at noon on Tuesday, May 23), Hernandez’s other team in the Majors division waiting on the winner of coach Doug Berryhill/Jason Roberts’s match. In the Minor-A Division, Michael Wirth’s team is waiting on the winner of Dave Smith/Jim Greenberg teams.
All champions will be awarded trophies at the closing ceremony on Saturday, June 3, at the Indian Trails Sports Complex.
